When it comes to books and their movie adaptations I almost always prefer the book. Like when The Hunger Games trilogy first came out, I bought the first book, loved it, and then brought the second and third book on the days of their release and read them within less than two days, but when it came to the movies I really couldn’t stand them. They cut out so much because they wanted to knock it down from a 15+ to a 12+ to make more money.

In most cases, movies that are based on books always end up cutting a lot out because they don’t have time to cram an entire book’s plot into two hours. However, TV shows have a bit more freedom since they can stretch on season after season, and there are actually a lot of TV shows that I actually prefer to the books they were originally based on. Here are a few shows that I think actually beat their book versions:

I got to go back to Hong Kong again this year and one of my favourite places to go is the Ladies’ Market, which is basically a market with stalls that sell fake designer clothes, bags, accessories, and all sorts of stuff. You can also haggle and try and get things for much cheaper than they are being offered. I’d thought I’d do a haul to show what I got from there and show you how much money you can save from haggling.

Here’s what I managed to find!

I’ve read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher before, but since Netflix are releasing a TV series, at the end of March, based on this book I thought that I’d read it again. This review is going to be spoiler free as I don’t want to spoil the TV series either.

Thirteen Reasons Why is about Hannah Baker, a girl who shocks her community by committing suicide. She leaves behind thirteen cassette tapes, and each of these cassette tapes is for a different person, and these thirteen people are the reasons why she killed herself.

Around this time last year, I was handing in my dissertation. I know some people have a few months to go before they have to hand theirs in and some aren’t going to be doing theirs until next year, but I thought I’d share my experience with writing my dissertation since I can laugh about it now.
